I told her how when she broke up with her husband and stopped going to meeting I asked my wife for her phone number and how my wife wouldn't give it to me. I'm sure it was because she felt I would corrupt her with my unjehovahish ideas. I mention this to 2nd cus last night and she informed me that when she left she tried to get my phone number from her JW family and none of them would give it to her. Because she is in Utah and I'm in California there wasn't much chance of bumping into each other.
Thank you facebook!

Bummer weekend
by donny inthis has been a lousy weekend!
in july 2009 my 20 year old nephew, ryan, died of complications from heroin and his best friend jeff neville spoke at the funeral.
he gave a very emotional talk and said that he was going to work at getting off the stuff himself.

No.. infact I'm thinking of signing up again for a second stint. Jehovahland here I come.
Now that that moment of insanity has past I would have to say that I regret it in some ways but in other ways maybe not. Sometimes it is hard to tell if something that happened to you in your life was good or bad. For instance if I was never a Jdub I wouldn't have met my wife. I wouldn't have come to know you and the other people on this board. I have friends in my life who went to the same hall I did who are no longer JWs who I would never have come to know if I never had the Jdub expirience. I also think it had made less judgemental of other people and their beliefs and less like to believe I am right and have the answers.

Very moving Cedars. Lovely music. I viewed it a few minutes ago on my Droid and it played fine there.

What Can We Do to Show How We Cared about Oompa?
by Band on the Run ini know others have posted on the original thread.
several people, including myself, would like to do something concrete to show our concerns re: his treatment by the jw, and how important he was to all of us here.
i suggested a handwritten note, on behalf of the whole community here, flowers, and perhaps a donation to a charity that helps people get back on their feet.

Dagney, Outlaw, I also like the idea of sending cards to the family to show that there were people who cared about him.

Never a JW you haven't a clue how much harm this cult can do to a person. You either stay in line or they'll rip your life as you know it right out from under you removing all your friends and family from you and having them treat you as if you are already dead or some evil monster. You might not be able to blame the WT for all the mental illness in the organization but you can blame them for exacerbating it and pushing some over the edge. They should be held accountable. They cause a lot of unnecessary suffering in Eric's life. That isn't what so called "Christian" organization are supposed to do.
